At Antlion Audio we pride ourselves on listening to feedback from our customers. We take every comment seriously and when we hear recurring themes we get to work. In this case, for the first time in our dozen+ years the feedback was so strong we didn't just make an under-the-radar tweak, but decided the changes were large enough to replace the entire SKU. So, let's talk about the change from the Uni 2 to the Uni 2+.
The primary reason we're launching a new SKU instead of just improving the old one is to ensure all the existing products are removed from circulation and replaced with the improved version. It also ensures our customers can be confident they are receiving the most up-to-date version. First, a minor packaging change to show that it is the + version.

The core hardware of the Uni 2 & 2+ remains unchanged, but the following items have been improved/updated:
1: New Premium 3M Adhesives!
We've been working with 3M to source a new adhesive with longer life and better adhesion for electronics surfaces. We're very happy with the new model we have chosen, VHB 5952, which will be included in every Uni 2+ box. This is to address issues we've had with older adhesives losing their stickiness over time. If your ModMic Uni 2 or any recent purchase has had dry or unsticky adhesives please reach out to our team. We will send you a new set of these updated adhesives free of charge. Going forward, all ModMic products in future production runs will be using this new adhesive. More information on the adhesives are here.
2: Left-side Attachment.
An error in our production process had the Uni 2's default to the right side of headphones instead of the left side, as indicated in the instructions. This new run will correctly have the left-side as the default right out of the box. All wired ModMics can be re-shaped for left or right-side attachment. Please refer to the instructions on how to reshape the boom.
3: Mushy / Fuzzy Audio.
We had been experiencing reports of the Uni 2 sounding "off" and had to collect a number of these returned / warrantied units to determine the cause. We identified the cause as a part that was shifting during assembly in a select number of units. We've changed this part to prevent that from happening, which should mean more consistent quality between units.
If your Uni 2 doesn't sound amazing please contact our support team with a recording.
This change does not impact things like EMI (hiss) or ground loops (hums) or similar electrical interferences local to your machine, however, we suggest you reach out regardless. We can help with those too!
We'd like to thank everyone who continues to support us and recognize that these issues, while not intentional, are entirely on us. We appreciate every customer who wrote a review, contacted us with issues, or gave feedback. Your patience and understanding is appreciated as we work through these issues.
Thank you!
