Another year in the rear-view. Maybe we should call these posts a year in rearview instead!
Every year we take a moment to reflect on what we did (and sometimes did not) achieve in the last the 365-ish days and this year is no exception!
Hello New 3M Adhesives!
We worked with 3M and vendor partners to select the newest model of adhesive for the ModMic that will work best across the devices most commonly used and landed on VHB 5952. This marks the first time we've changed our adhesive model since we started making ModMics! So far we've rolled this adhesive out to the accessory combo packs and the Uni 2+. Future production runs of other products will use this going forward. The original is still great, but we believe this new model will have a longer shelf life as well as longer adhesion life, a 1-2 combo that should extend ModMic lifespans worldwide.

All About Tariffs
We started the year with a post about tariffs, and while the situation has calmed down a bit since then, it's really a great post about how tariffs affect pricing. We cover the entire situation with actual numbers (rounded for math simplicity) and why they can cause a burden to consumers greater than the tax they collect.

PAX West Lanfest Sponsor
We had a wonderful time and opportunity to head to Seattle for PAX West as sponsor of the LANFEST Charity Stream Zone. This was the perfect Venn diagram of getting streamers and viewers to see and hear our product, a booth for meetings at PAX West, and raising money for charity! In fact together we raised over $12,000 USD!

Uni 2+ Rollout
For the first time in our company history we made a change for an existing product that was so large we had to replace the SKU entirely. The Uni 2 had some unexpected manufacturing issues, such as it being right-mounted out of the box instead of left-mounted. To prevent the improved inventory from being mixed into old inventory we opted to give it a new box, SKU, and name. Thus the Uni 2+ was born. All of the info on it is covered in this post.

Two Big Troubleshooting Tips
We made two major posts this year on how to fix possible audio issues and they're so important I wanted to recap them here.
- If you mic keeps changing the volume no matter what you do...
- A problem with Intel's SST drivers making a mic sound 'bad' (this impacts USB based devices, including the ModMic USB and Wireless as well as any other USB based mic).

Goodbye XLR Power Converter
Though it served us well, at the start of the year we discontinued sales of our XLR Power Converter, which let you use the 3.5mm ModMic with 48v phantom power devices. It was a neat little device but as demand for 3.5mm based mics is replaced by USB and Wireless the niche product simply became too niche.
Coming in 2026!?
Last year we suggested that 2025 would have a LOT of product releases. That didn't happen, which is a real bummer, but what we can say is that none of those planned products got canceled; which means next year is going to be busy. Our confidence remains high that we'll see more than one product release in 2026, so please stay tuned to our Discord, newsletter, or social media accounts for what's coming next.
