In this video tutorial we'll cover how to replace the ear pads on a pair of Audio Technica M50x headphones, as well as how to turn them into a modular open back design. This open back mod will allow you to use your M50x headphones in both open and closed back format.

For replacing the pads you'll need no tools at all, but you will need the replacement ear cups.

For modifying the open back design we recommend having the following tools available:

• Safety Glasses
• Drill Press or Dremel
• Tin Snips
• Philips Screwdriver
• Box Cutter or Small Flathead Screwdriver
• Hot Glue Gun
• Cutoff Wheel and Sanding Wheel for Dremel
• Or 1.5" Forstner Bit for Drill Press
